I was a reporter and anchor for KGMB 9, the local CBS affiliate, for 20 years, covering the medical beat, state government, and education.

The column I wrote for the weekly paper MidWeek, also called Moonlighting, afforded me the luxury of writing about life in general in Hawaii and beyond.

There’s no better life training than journalism.  You have to dig deep, think fast, be flexible, and break down sometimes overwhelming amounts of complicated information in a short amount of time. Those daily 5, 6, and 10 PM deadlines wait for no one. All that, and it helps to be a good storyteller – able to draw in the viewer, communicate facts clearly, and hold on to their interest till the end.

I have a new passion, photography, and for that you can follow me on Facebook and visit my website, Jade Moon Photography.

But life during a worldwide pandemic demands more from me. There are issues to tackle, people to meet, and stories to tell. The newswoman in me can’t quit.
